Getting a Guardianship of a Child

Definition

This category concerns the process of becoming appointed by the court to be a guardian for a minor child (under age 18). The person being appointed should ensure the minor is properly cared for in terms of health, upbringing and education -- and that significant assets are protected. This includes situations where there is an estate or no estate, when the appointment is contested or uncontested, and temporary or standby appointments.
