Definition
This category covers the option for parents to appoint another to take care of their child if they become incapacitated, they die, they face immigration actions, or otherwise are unable to care for their child suddenly. They do not give up their parental rights, and they may revoke their consent to this standby guardianship at any time. Typically this can be established with a signed document and witnesses, but without a court process.
